Most of the time, when Beaconsfield owners ask about new concrete, the existing slab can be resurfaced for a fraction of the cost. New concrete is the right call when the slab is genuinely failing.
How new concrete works at Nupave
New concrete pours — driveways, paths, slabs — are organised through our trusted network of concreting contractors. We handle the project management, the specification, and the finish. The benefit is one point of contact and one set of standards on the work.
Signs your slab needs replacement, not resurfacing
Wide structural cracking running through the full thickness of the slab, sections that have shifted on the base, expansion joints that have failed and let water in, surface concrete crumbling away in chunks — these are signs the slab is past resurfacing.
Have we checked whether resurfacing would do it?
Before quoting a new pour, we check whether resurfacing would work. New concrete is the most expensive and most disruptive option, and it’s not always necessary.
Coloured concrete options
Coloured concrete is poured with the colour mixed through the slab rather than applied to the surface. The benefit over a surface stain is that the colour goes all the way through — small chips and surface wear don’t reveal a different colour underneath.

Frequently Asked Questions
What time of year is best for the work?
Most of the year is workable if the weather is dry enough and the concrete temperature is suitable. The main thing is avoiding rain, trapped moisture, extreme heat and conditions that do not give the coating or sealer enough time to cure properly.
Can oil stains be removed before resurfacing?
Some oil staining can be cleaned and treated, but heavy oil that has soaked deep into the concrete can still cause issues. I’ll check it on site and tell you whether it needs extra prep, grinding, degreasing, or whether that section is too contaminated to coat properly.
Do you remove the old concrete?
Yes — if the old slab is being replaced, demolition and removal are part of the job.
